Our Biggest Firefox Extension Update Ever

By Ryan Oldenburg on

Today’s Firefox extension update brings a much better interface and lots of new features, including support for replying to text messages from PC!

Check out the new look here:

Firefoxers can now reply to text messages right from their computer.

You’ve been able to see your phone’s notifications on PC for a while now, but now our Firefox extension supports replying, too! All you need to do is click on the notification, and, if your text messaging app supports replies from PC, a quick reply window will open. Just type your reply, hit enter, and you’re done!

This quick-reply feature is supported by a bunch of texting apps. Here’s a quick list of apps that support this already: EvolveSMS, chomp SMS, QKSMS, Vegas SMS, and Sliding Messaging.

Replying to text messages via PC is powered by Pushbullet’s Messaging Extension. Any messaging app can add support for quick-replies from PC, so if your favorite app doesn’t have support for this feature yet, send them an email telling them to get in touch.

Pushing links and more from Firefox to a device or friend is now way better.

Not only does the new panel look better, it works better too:

  • Easily select the device or friend you want to push to with autocomplete.

  • Choose all of your devices if that’s how you roll.

  • Never lose another note or list again if you close the panel—it now remembers where you left off automatically.

  • Send a message with your link, to remind you why you pushed it or tell a friend what to check out.

All of this brings Firefox back up to speed with our Chrome extension.

Feature parity between our Firefox and Chrome extensions isn’t an easy goal but we’ve gotten them really close now and keeping them this close will be much easier now. To those that’ve been waiting for this update, we thank you for your patience!
