For the developers out there, we’ve just added a ton of new functionality to our public API!
You can now tap into the live event and notification stream, access push history, send pushes to all devices, and much more!
All of the new functionality is covered in the new and improved documentation on https://docs.pushbullet.com.
It’s really exciting for us to see how many developers are building on the Pushbullet API.
So far, libraries for the Pushbullet API have been written in 10 different programming languages! These include pyPushBullet, node-pushbullet, PushBullet-for-PHP, pushbullet-bash, pushbullet (ruby) and many more.
Tons of apps and services on the web are now offering instant notifications through Pushbullet too, including IFTTT, Zapier, UptimeRobot, CouchPotato, and Noteboard.
Our hope is that by adding more and more API functionality, we’ll enable you to build even bigger and cooler things.
Also, all of API calls we’re documenting are the same ones we use ourselves. This means our API will always be consistent and reliable.
Our goal is to provide a full API that enables anything to tap into the Pushbullet network.
This is important to us because we believe everything, not just smartphones and computers, should be able to exchange information in real time.
Now that more and more devices are starting to become connected in the so called Internet of Things, inter-device communcation is becoming very important. Just being connected to the internet isn’t enough—these devices need to actually be able to talk to each other and that’s where Pushbullet comes in.
Here are some examples where our API is really helpful:
- Have a website and want to offer push notifications? We’ve build everything you need.
- Want to build a Pushbullet client for a platform we don’t officially support yet? Everything you need is here.
- Working on a home automation system? Pushbullet can get everything chatting.
- Working with sensors and want to send messages to another device? Pushbullet is just what you need.
- Manage IT/servers and want to get updates and alerts no matter where you are or what device you’re using? Pushbullet makes it easy.
Already using our previous API? Don’t worry—everything will continue to work just fine.
That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t upgrade though! The new API is better documented, has much more functionality, and will continue to improve.
