Pushbullet’s Firefox extension now supports notification mirroring and more! You can get the latest version here (Version 4).
We’ve been adding a lot of cool features to our Chrome extension lately, but our Firefox extension had fallen behind. This has been dissapointing to our Firefox users so we’re making up for it today—our Firefox extension now supports all of the same new features as our Chrome extension!
See all of your phone’s notifications on your computer right as they arrive.
If you haven’t heard about our Notification Mirroring yet, you’re really missing out. Here’s a 30 second demo that should make pretty clear why you want this. This works with Facebook, Whatsapp, and Twitter, and just about every other app out there.
Enabling Notification Mirroring is easy, just turn it on in our Android app and make sure you’ve got one of our browser extensions installed. Once you’ve done that, all of your phone’s notifications will be shown on your computer the second they arrive.
If you happen to have both our Chrome and Firefox extensions installed, you can select which extension to have the notifications sent to in our Android app.
No more hiding in the Add-on bar, Firefox now has a proper toolbar button.
This has been a long time coming and it’s a huge improvement. Here’s the before and after:
Now the button is right in the toolbar where you expect it. This is probably my favorite part of the update. Small but so important.
There is one little problem—all notifications will dismiss themselves automatically after 4 seconds (and we haven’t found a way to stop it).
This really sucks. It’s a known bug in Firefox that we aren’t able to fix on our side. As a work around for non-mirror pushes, we just open them right away in a new tab (without stealing focus). This is a little different than our Chrome extension but I think it’s a pretty good work-around since we can’t make the notifications stay.
Other than this one little issue, our Firefox extension is now hugely improved. Just as good as our Chrome extension was the goal, and I think we’ve done it!
We’ve got a community of Pushbullet fans over on reddit and you should join!
The Pushbullet subreddit is great resource for getting questions answered or making suggestions. Of course you can always reach us at [email protected], this is just another great way to get in touch with us and other people using Pushbullet.
